Aambulanz Rrétrospective

The Berlin-based collective Aambulanz-Kollektiv consists of the seven artists Michel Castaignet, Kathrin Landa, Florence Obrecht, Axel Pahlavi, Alexej Tchernyi, Alex Tennigkeit and Wu Zhi, who were born in Germany, France, Ukraine, Iran, and China.

For their exhibition at the Vénissieux Art Center, they have taken over the former ballroom, now an exhibition space, with their paintings, as well as new sculptures, a very large mural borrowing from the aesthetics of 1980s film posters, and a collective, decorated pavilion built in the spirit of those in the Giardiniera at the Venice Biennale and past World’s Fairs. Intimacy and humor intertwine, inseparable from a mischievous critical eye and an unbridled love of painting and its history.
Exhibition in conjunction with the 18th Lyon Contemporary Art Biennale.

Vernissage: Wednesday, September 16, 6:30 pm
Exhibition from September 17 to December 19, 2026
